Your video stays home.

PromptCam watches your cameras on a computer in your house. This page says exactly what stays there, the few things that leave, and what we can and cannot see.

00The short version

  • Your video, thumbnails and PromptCam's memory of what it saw live on your own computer. We never receive them.
  • There is no account with us, no cloud recording, no analytics and no advertising.
  • Alerts reach your phone through Apple's push service as short text. Pictures do not.
  • Away from home, your phone reaches your station through an encrypted tunnel we cannot read.
  • A cloud model is optional and off by default. If you add one, the frames you ask about go to that provider under its own policy.
  • Bare skin is blurred on your computer before any model, local or cloud, sees a frame.

01Who we are

PromptCam is made by belike ("we", "us"). This policy covers the PromptCam station software, the PromptCam app for iPhone, and this website. It describes what information is handled, where, and by whom.

02What stays on your computer

The station runs on a computer in your home and connects to cameras you already own. Everything it makes from what those cameras see stays on that computer:

  • Video frames it analyses, and short clips around moments it noticed.
  • Its memory: a few descriptive lines per moment and small thumbnails, kept in a local database so it can answer about earlier today or last week.
  • Your requests and questions, and the answers it gave.
  • Camera addresses and passwords, stored only on the station and never shown to the phone.
  • Any cloud model key you choose to add.

We have no access to any of it. Deleting the station's data folder deletes it all. You are responsible for the security of the computer the station runs on.

03What leaves your home

A few narrow paths cross your network so that the phone app can work. Each carries as little as it can:

  • Push notifications. When PromptCam alerts your phone, the headline and detail line pass through Apple's Push Notification service to reach your device. Thumbnails and clips do not; the app fetches those from your station directly.
  • Away from home. If you switch on remote access, your phone and station connect through an encrypted tunnel. We run a small coordination server for it. That server sees that two devices are paired and their network addresses, so they can find each other. It cannot read what passes between them, which is encrypted end to end.
  • Updates. The station and the app check for new versions. That request carries the version they run and nothing about your home.
  • Model downloads. Local vision and speech models, and small helper programs, are downloaded from their publishers on first use.

We do not use analytics or tracking in the software or on this website. We do not sell, rent or share information about you with anyone.

04Cloud models you add yourself

By default PromptCam uses models that run on your own computer. You may add a key for a cloud model provider (such as OpenAI) for harder questions. If you do, the frames PromptCam chooses to analyse and your questions are sent to that provider under its terms and privacy policy, not ours. Your key is stored only on your station, and you can remove it at any time. A setting on the station chooses whether cloud models get every frame, or only "right now" questions, or nothing.

05The phone app

The app pairs with your station using a code shown on the station. It keeps the station's address and a pairing token on your phone, plus your own settings. It asks for the microphone only when you tap the mic, to hear your question; speech is turned into text on your phone or your station, never by us. It asks for notification permission so alerts can reach you. It does not use your location, contacts, photos or advertising identifier.

06People and pets it recognises

PromptCam can tell people and pets apart by appearance so that it can answer "how many different people came by today?" and, if you name someone, "is Dad home?". This is off by default. When on, it keeps a small appearance signature per person or pet on your station only. It does not use face recognition services and nothing about who was seen leaves your computer. Switch it off at any time and every signature is deleted. You are responsible for telling the people who live with you and visit you that a camera is watching, and for using cameras lawfully where you are.

07This website

belike.vip is a static site. It sets no cookies and runs no analytics. Its hosting provider keeps ordinary server logs (address, page, time) for a short period to run the service. If you email us, we keep the email to reply to you.

08Children

PromptCam is for adults who run cameras in their own home. We do not knowingly collect anything from children, and since we collect nothing from users at all, there is nothing to collect.

09Your choices and rights

Because your data stays with you, you already hold it: open the station's data folder to see it, delete a moment from the app, or delete the folder to remove everything. Unpair the phone to forget the station. If you live somewhere with data protection rights (the GDPR, the UK GDPR, the CCPA and others), you can exercise them by writing to us, though the honest answer to most requests will be that we hold nothing about you.

10Changes

We may update this policy as PromptCam grows. The date at the top says when it last changed. If a change would mean something new leaves your home, the station will tell you before it does.
